Issue II: Cinder

Now accepting submissions until Dec 30, 2023.
We are calling for young creatives ages 14-26 to submit a piece of writing or art that reflects on the theme of cinder.

For this issue, we invite you to give us your definitions of cinder— relay to us its properties, tell us about change, or of what remains after a fiery metamorphosis.

​

BLOSSOMS JOURNAL seek to publish works from a diverse body of artists, and we are currently on the lookout for work with innovative writing styles and novel points of view. Below are the forms of writing & art we accept:

​

Poetry

We are interested in short-form poetry. We accept up to 3 pieces of poetry in one submission, and max 50 lines per poem.  We encourage poems that are accessible to a wide audience. Characteristics we look for are vivid writing, strong narrative, and rendering the familiar new. We encourage you to peruse past issues in our archive to get a sense of our ethos!

Hybrid Prose

We are accepting prose poetry and other non-traditional stylistic forms, submissions should be no longer than 5 pages.

​

Fiction & Creative Non-fiction

We are accepting short stories, micro-fiction and creative non-fiction under 4000 words.

​

Visual art

For artists interested in being featured in our magazine, please submit your art to us in JPEG, PNG, JPG or MP4 form.

Audio Narration

We encourage all writers to send an audio narration of their submitted work, and will send out this request to all contributors in our issue. By bringing your words to life, you'll make our content accessible to a wider range of readers.

Submission Guidelines

All submission are to be emailed to us at blossomsjournal3@gmail.com in PDF, doc or docx format.

 

Please tell us in the subject of the email the genre of your submission and the title of your piece: [Genre: ''Title of work'], e.g. [Poetry: The Well], and include a brief artist's bio under 50 words.

If you wish to submit to 2 genres, please email your submissions separately. This helps our team process your submissions faster.

​

Submissions need not be in English, we are open to publishing works in all languages. If submitting a piece that’s partly or wholly in a language other than English, please provide a translation.

​

We happily consider simultaneous submissions, but please inform us if your work has been accepted elsewhere. And, please notify us if you would like to withdraw a single piece from a batch, and we will update your submission accordingly.

Audio guidelines

If you are submitting a work accompanied by audio narration, please reference the guidelines below:

​

1. When submitting your written piece, include the audio recording as an attachment or provide a link to a secure file-sharing platform. 

 

2. Recording should be in MP3 or WAV format, and please ensure the file is of high quality for optimal listening.

​

3. If your work is a shorter piece, please submit a complete audio narration. For longer works, kindly provide a narration of the first 1000 words.

​

4. Copyrighted Material: Please submit only original content that you hold the rights to. We respect intellectual property and cannot accept submissions that infringe on copyright laws.

​

5. Permission: By submitting your audio narration, you grant Blossoms Journal the right to use and publish it alongside your written work in our digital issues.

​

​
